Student Success: MCC/VRABE Partnership Graduates 10 in Special Certified Nurse Aide Cohort
A grant-funded partnership between Manchester Community College and Vernon Regional Adult Board of Education (VRABE) created a special Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. A cohort of ten students recently graduated and passed their state certification exams.

Seven Manchester Community College students were inducted into the Gamma Phi chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau, the international honor society that recognizes current and future leaders in technology professions.
MCC Features Student Talent in 2022 Spring Arts Festival; Opening Reception May 12
An opening reception will be held May 12, at 6 p.m. in the SBM Charitable Foundation Building atrium and auditorium. It is open to the public. This annual event showcases student visual art works. During the opening reception, there will also be performances by MCC Music Studies students.
MCC Students Make Phi Theta Kappa 2021-22 All-Connecticut Academic Team
This year’s MCC team members are Kristen Reep and Nicholas Hirth. They were honored at an All-Connecticut ceremony on April 22.

State Senator Anwar to Speak at Manchester Community College Class of 2022 Commencement Ceremony
Anwar was first elected to public office in 2011 as a member of South Windsor’s town council. He has served two terms as South Windsor mayor, once from 2013 to 2015 and then from 2017 to 2019. He was elected to the state senate in February 2019 to represent the residents of the Third state senate district towns of East Hartford, East Windsor, Ellington and South Windsor.
Connecticut Student Poets to Read at Connecticut Poetry Circuit Online Event April 21
The online event Thursday, April 21, from 6 to 7 p.m., will feature Brian Ataka from Quinnipiac University, Vaugh Goehrig from Yale University, Colleen Goff from Eastern Connecticut State University and Michelle Rochniak from Western Connecticut State University. It is free and open to the public.
Poet Steve Straight to Read at Manchester Community College April 27
Poet Steve Straight will read from his new book, Affirmation, at Manchester Community College on Wednesday, April 27, from 7 to 8 p.m. in the Great Path Academy Community Commons. The event is free and open to the public. He will also sign copies of the book following the reading.
MCC Common Read Program to Host Author Abdi Nor Iftin, April 21
Abdi Nor Iftin is the author of this year’s Common Read selection, Call Me American. Manchester Community College will host him as part of the college’s program in a free event held via Webex on Thursday, April 21, from 7 to 9 p.m. It is open to the public.
