Two students have been elected by their peers to serve on the Board of Regents for Higher Education, bringing the new board to full strength.

The Manchester Community College Foundation awarded $118,250 in scholarships to 143 students for the 2012 spring semester. The Scholarship Reception was held on Thursday, December 8 and those attending included students, their families, faculty, staff, donors and members of the MCC Foundation Board.

Manchester Community College is the first Connecticut-based institution to be designated as a National Issues Forums Center for Public Policy.

Douglas Hutton, a Glastonbury High School physics teacher who also is an instructor at MCC, received a $25,000 award from the Milken Family Foundation.

MCC Business students become teachers for a day at St. James School in Manchester.

All students are asked to evaluate their 2011 fall semester courses. Refreshments provided.

On Wednesday, November 30, MCC’s legislative advocacy committee, along with members of the MCC Foundation board and the College’s Regional Advisory Committee, hosted a breakfast for area legislators.

For more than a decade, MCC has developed academic and training programs that are responsive to the manufacturing needs of the region.

Manchester Community College in the past few years has focused on sustainability projects on campus to promote ideas and values that encourage all to be better stewards of the environment and promote positive economic growth and social objectives.

MCC graduated a class of 12 students from the Precision Machining Certificate program on November 9.
