Cange’s Four Goals puts AIC on Ice

MANCHESTER, CT – (October 23) – Jemmy Cange (Norwich) scored three of his four goals over a three minute span in the first half as MCC rolled over American International College’s JV team 6-1 Thursday afternoon in Manchester.

Cange finished the regular season with 24 goals after his fourth goal of the game bent twine nine minutes into the second half. Jeff Gregor (Newington) made four saves in the first half before turning the goaltending chores over to Hami Kara (Wethersfield), who made seven saves over the final 45 minutes.

Joe Danso’s (West Haven) ninth goal of the year gave MCC a 1-0 lead seven minutes into the game and Dennis Cartier (Middletown) closed out the scoring when he headed in a Stanley Potchoiba (Montville) corner kick with 10 minutes to play. Kevin Battista (Enfield) assisted on three of Cange’s goals. Cange, who was an NJCAA All-New England selection in 2006, assisted on Danso’s goal and came into the game ranked sixth in the nation in scoring among Division III players. The native of Haiti finished the regular season with 59 points.

MCC is ranked sixth in the latest (October 22) NJCAA Poll and goes into the NJCAA Region XXI Division III tournament with a 15-2 record and a 10 game winning streak. MCC will host the tournament and takes on Holyoke CC at 11 am Saturday (October 25) on the MCC campus.
