Cange Too Much For Holyoke in 4-0 MCC Win

MANCHESTER, CT – (September 24) Sophomore Jemmy Cange (Norwich) broke a scoreless tie six minutes into the second half, then personally dismantled Holyoke with three more goals over the ensuing 14 minutes to give MCC a 4-0 win at McCormick Complex on the MCC campus. Mariusz Kurzatkowski (Southington) assisted on the first three goals while Alan Tzinis (Rocky Hill) helped out on the fourth.

“Jemmy has worked hard and it is starting to pay off now,” MCC Coach Jim Insinga said. “We have him on the flank and we have him up front and he is doing a tremendous job.”

Cange, who played for the Haiti National Team this past summer, now has eight goals on the season to go along with three assists. Kurzatkowski has a team leading eight assists.

“I was so happy for the first goal,” Cange said. “Mariusz passed a good ball to me and I just put it on the net. Coach told me we had to score the first goal, that whoever scored the first goal would win the game so that was a good goal.” Cange was an All-State player at Norwich Free Academy where he scored 71 goals over four years for Coach Robert Briones. He scored a team high 17goals for Insinga’s 15-4-1 team in 2006.

Hami Kara (Wethersfield) started in goal and made a sliding save midway through the first half to keep the game scoreless through the first 45 minutes. Jeff Gregor (Newington) and Chris Meneses (Enfield) shared the tending duties in the second half, closing out MCC’s fifth shutout in eight games. MCC improves to 6-2 on the season while Holyoke drops to 3-3.

“We worked hard in the first half and kept it 0-0,” Jim Insinga said. “In the first half we played a 4-5-1 so that we had a presence in the midfield because we wanted to wear them out a little bit. In the second half we had a 4-4-2 and had more offensive minded players on the field and it weighed too heavy on them.”

MCC will play its second of four consecutive home matches on Saturday afternoon at 1 PM when Bunker Hill visits for a rematch. On Sunday, Bunker Hill beat the visiting Cougars 2-1 in Boston.
