Begin a Career in the Medical Field with Credit-Free Certificate Option

Manchester, Conn. (August 26, 2015) – For current or prospective students interested in entering the medical field as a career, earning a certificate to become a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) can provide excellent work experience and the opportunity for references to aid in future job searches.

MCC’s division of Continuing Education offers an array of options for career pathways through the Allied Health programs. Selecting the focus of a CNA can be a great option for students who have aspiration to become health professionals with options to work in hospitals, clinics or long-term care facilities while earning an advanced degree.

“The CNA program combines classroom experience with the practical skills set students need to qualify for their first job in the field,” Ann Bonney, director of credit-free programs, said. “Students will work at a clinical site with patients and access to an on-site instructor to guide them through the duties they will be expected to perform independently after earning their certification. Students will feel the boost of confidence needed for success when working with patients because of the clinical experience provided in the program.”

Students can register for the next 120-hour course which will begin on Tuesday, September 8, from 6 to 9 p.m. and is completed on Saturday, November 21. The courses are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings on campus in Manchester with the clinical rotation held on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodlake at Tolland Health Center in Tolland. To register, call 860-512-3232 and reference CRN 31781. For questions, call the credit-free programs information line at 860-512-2800.
