Award-Winning Photographer to Offer Free Class at MCC on Main

Manchester, Conn. (September  1, 2015) –Mallorie Ostrowitz, award-winning local photographer and instructor at Manchester Community College, will offer a free session at MCC on Main, Tuesday, September 8, from 7 to 8 p.m. The class will include a presentation of her travel photography from Portugal.

Ostrowitz has been widely exhibited throughout the U.S., with permanent collections housed at the Peruvian Consulate in Hartford; EOS Airlines in London; the Oppenheimer Funds Distribution Center in New York and many others. She has been an instructor at MCC in the division of Continuing Education since 2003 and is a regular presenter at the West Hartford Sierra Club, a contest judge and critique photographer at the Audubon Society of Conn., a submission judge at the Gallery on the Green Art Show in Glastonbury and a past member of the board of directors for the Glastonbury Art Guild. The September 8 session will introduce prospective students and community members to her artwork and teaching philosophy. Interested participants are encouraged to pre-register by calling MCC on Main at 860-647-6030; however, walk-ins will also be welcome.

The complimentary session serves as a preview to Ostrowitz’s upcoming fall credit-free course, Advanced Seminar: Mastering Travel Photography, which will be held beginning Tuesday, September 15, from 7 to 9 p.m., running for eight weekly Tuesday sessions. It will also include two Saturday field trips from 9 to 11 a.m. at locations to be determined.

Students who are experienced with their digital SLR cameras will learn how to become organized and effective travel photographers, while working on how to get better shots through framing the image, adjusting to different lighting conditions, capturing the moment, and in creating ways to display travel images.
