Author of Mystery Series to hold Book Signing at MCC
Manchester, CT (September 17, 2007)…Manchester Community College presents author Steven Torres as he reads and signs copies of his critically-acclaimed book, “The Concrete Maze.” This event will be held on Wednesday, October 3 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Library Fireside Commons, located in the Learning Resource Center.
Connecticut author Steven Torres is the author of “The Precinct Puerto Rico” series of novels for St. Martin’s Press. “The Concrete Maze” (Dorchester, summer 2007) is his fifth novel and the first to be set in New York City.
This fictional tale brings the reader into the Bronx. The Bronx can be a tough place and Luis Ramos can tell you it’s even tougher to raise a daughter there. How can he keep her safe when every street leads to a new threat, an unseen danger? Now his daughter, Jasmine, is missing, and Luis will stop at nothing to get her back. He’s a desperate man, willing to do whatever it takes to find her in the endless maze of the city. Nothing—and no one—will stand in his way. Whoever took Jasmine is about to find out just how tough the Bronx can get.
Torres is a graduate of Hunter College and received his Ph.D. in English from the City University of New York Graduate School and University Center. His field of concentration is literature of the American Renaissance. He has taught English at Bronx Community College and Yeshiva College in New York City as well as Utica College in upstate New York. He is currently an instructor of English at Manchester Community College, and lives in Ellington with his wife, Damaris.
This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. For more information on the novel, visit Steven Torres’s website at www.steventorres.com. For additional information on the book reading and signing, call 860-512-2877.
