Alumni Association Honors MCC Alumni, Faculty and Community Members at General Meeting
Manchester, CT – (April 30, 2009) . . . The Manchester Community College Alumni Association will host their annual General Meeting and Reception on Thursday, May 7 at 6 p.m. in the Library Fireside Commons, located in the Learning Resource Center. The awards for Distinguished Alumni, Excellence in Teaching, Volunteer Service and Outstanding Business Partner will be presented during the event.
The Distinguished Alumni award will be presented to Frances Segal `94, the Excellence in Teaching award will be presented to Rick Harden, associate professor of Fine Arts, the Volunteer Service award will be presented to Nino Nistri and the Outstanding Business Partner award will be presented to Ted Cummings of Cummings Insurance Agency.
The program will also feature Elizabeth Thomas, published poet, performer, teacher and advocate for the arts. Thomas is the founder of Up Words Poetry, a company dedicated to promoting programs for young writer and educators.
The mission of the MCC Alumni Association is to foster a vibrant and diverse alumni group of choice whose membership is representative of the college community, build an effective network of alumni that is capable of providing meaningful financial and volunteer support, provide a vehicle for enhancing political influence and support to the college, and provide a conduit for community support in the college’s service area.
