MCC Celebrates Success of Latest Hartford Hospital Surgical Technology Cohort
MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 24, 2019) – Ten MCC/Hartford Hospital students are graduating from the spring 2019 semester as surgical technologists.
“Before our upcoming MCC graduation, eight of our 10 graduates have been offered and accepted surgical technologist positions in Connecticut hospitals,” said Terry Kennedy, MCC/Hartford Hospital Surgical Technology program director. “Their success is a testament to our partnership’s commitment to providing excellence in surgical technology education.”
The graduates celebrated their success with a ceremony on May 14 upon completion of their clinical work at Hartford Hospital.

The graduating students are Celines Cardona, of Norwich; Rhianna Eaton, of East Hartford; Emmanuel Ezeife of West Haven; Alexia Gooden, of Rocky Hill; Lauren Gore, of Bethel; MaCaila O’Leary, of Colchester; Zhao Peng, of Wethersfield; Ashley Sanchez, of Meriden; Sheron Scoffone, of Middletown; and Amanda Sykes of Vernon/Rockville.
In addition, Eaton, Ezeife and Scoffone were inducted into the Association of Surgical Technologists National Honor Society. Scoffone and Eaton were both also awarded scholarships from the Connecticut Association of Surgical Technologists to continue their educations. Sanchez was recognized for outstanding clinical performance, and Amanda Sykes was honored for outstanding academic performance.
