MCC to Hold Connecticut Manufacturing Company Career Fair on Friday, May 10

MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 8, 2019) – On Friday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to noon, MCC will hold a Connecticut Manufacturing Company Career Fair. The event, in which numerous local employers in the manufacturing sector will participate, will be held in the SBM Charitable Foundation Building galleria on the first floor. It is free and open to the public.

There are more than 4,000 manufacturing companies in Connecticut; many have immediate job openings and not all are on the shop floor, according to MCC’s Precision Manufacturing Program Director Tracy Ariel. “Manufacturing is a growing sector in Connecticut that is expected to add over 1,600 jobs in the next two-year period,” she said. “These jobs will cross all functions, including accounting, human resources, marketing and many others.”

Dave Rodney, principal at IDDS, LLC – one of the many companies expected at the career fair – added, “The need for well educated, thoughtful employees in Connecticut’s manufacturing sector is substantial and growing. Automation is not reducing the need for skilled workers in America; it is increasing their productivity by leaps and bounds. It is also changing the required set of skills. Keeping pace with those changes and actively engaging prospective employers are especially important for schools preparing students for manufacturing careers.”

Other companies participating on Friday include A-1 Machining Company; United Tool and Die Company; Turbine Kinetics, Inc.; ATI; Alpha Q, Inc.; Cambridge Specialty Company, Inc.; Highland Manufacturing, Inc.; Forrest Machine, Inc., BMS Aerospace, Inc.; Kamatics Corporation; Barnes Group, Inc.; CBS Manufacturing Company; Hobson and Motzer, Inc.; Spartan Aerospace LLC and others.
