MANCHESTER, Conn. (November 30, 2018) – Manchester Community College been recognized as one of the best two-year colleges offering online learning in Connecticut by the Community for Accredited Online Schools. MCC scored second from the top in the 2018-2019 ranking.

“Flexibility, accessibility and affordability are the cornerstones of community college education and our online coursework permits us to meet the needs of our students,” according to Dr. Tuesday L. Cooper, interim dean of academic affairs.  “MCC faculty take great pride in offering quality learning opportunities that work well with the busy lives led by our students.  We are pleased to be among the top online education providers in the State of Connecticut.”

The Community for Accredited Online Schools is a team of education experts who are passionate about supporting prospective students by creating quality search tools, school rankings, in-depth guides, financial aid resources and expert advice. The community’s website has helped countless students find the accredited program or school that meets their educational and career goals, and over 1,000 colleges, universities and government entities have shared the site’s resources and content.

To qualify for top online recognition, schools must be regionally or nationally accredited, hold a not-for-profit status in the United States, and offer at least one online degree or certificate. Colleges were ranked based on quality, affordability, flexibility and degrees granted to students.

In addition to its on-ground courses, MCC offers online courses across most of its 80 degree and certificate programs for students whose educational goals are more suited to distance learning. Online courses include accounting, administrative office procedures, anthropology, art, astronomy, biology, business — including entrepreneurship and small business development courses – communication, computer science, criminal justice, English, finance, mathematics, and many others. The college also offers hybrid courses, which combine minimum on-ground classroom time with online coursework.

MCC’s Continuing Education division also offers a broad range of workforce skills and general education non-credit courses via its Online Academy.
