MCC Announces Need-Based Scholarships for Spring 2018 Credit- Free Certificate Courses

MANCHESTER, Conn. (November 27, 2017) – Manchester Community College’s Continuing Education division is offering partial scholarships, based on financial need, to help pay the costs of a number of eligible credit-free certificate programs offered during the Spring 2018 term. Students applying for these workforce development scholarships are required to submit a statement of need along with the application. Funds are made possible through the MCC Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports the mission and purpose of Manchester Community College.

Courses begin at varying dates, and for varying lengths, depending on the program. The scholarship committee meets periodically; therefore students should identify the start date of their course and apply early. Information on start dates can be found in the Credit-Free Winter 2017-2018 catalog, as well as the soon-to-be published Spring 2018 Credit-Free catalog. The list of eligible programs and the link for the application can be found at: www.manchestercc.edu/continuing-education/credit-free-programs/certification/

Certificates in allied health, computer technology, real estate, and personal trainer are offered by the Continuing Education division. Students can qualify for up to 75 percent of a course fee, depending on their need.

“These need-based, partial scholarships will help students get the workforce training they need to improve their skills in a relatively short time period, sometimes as little as six weeks. This puts them in the position to earn better wages and, if they desire, to continue at MCC to pursue additional education,” said Ann Bonney, director, Credit-Free programs.
