MCC Ranked #1 Two-Year Destination School Among Connecticut High School Graduates
MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 5, 2017) – Manchester Community College is the most popular two-year college choice — and ranked 4th out of 25 top destination institutions overall — among recent Connecticut high school graduates, according to the StudentTracker® for High Schools Aggregate Report prepared for the Connecticut State Board of Education by the National Student Clearinghouse®.
Founded in 1993 by the higher education community, the National Student Clearinghouse is a nonprofit and nongovernmental organization providing educational reporting, data exchange, verification and research services for educational institutions. More than 3,600 colleges and universities participate in the Clearinghouse, reporting enrollment and degree information regularly throughout the year. See more at www.studentclearinghouse.org.
The report prepared for the Connecticut State Board of Education includes data from 206 school districts covering more than 1,400 public schools and programs, and an overall enrolled population of more than 500,000 students. The report provides data on Connecticut students who attended college immediately after high school.
“We are very pleased that MCC is the number one two-year college choice among recent high school graduates in Connecticut,” said MCC president Gena Glickman, PhD. “I believe that MCC is a destination college because of our razor-like focus on the holistic needs of students, the commitment of our faculty and staff to excellence in our programs, and our reputation within the community for service and partnerships.”
The sprawling main campus and the contemporary architecture, as well as MCC’s off-campus location at 903 Main Street (MCC on Main), are conducive to a vibrant student life and college experience, according to Dr. Glickman.
She added, “Our rigorous general education and liberal arts and sciences requirements for associate degree candidates prepare our graduates to successfully transfer to baccalaureate institutions. The cost effectiveness of completing the first two years at MCC means students graduate from senior institutions with lower student debt.”
