Corporate and Community Training Center Offers Custom Training

Manchester, Conn. (February 2, 2017) – The Corporate and Community Training Center (CCTC) at Manchester Community College offers customized training programs in a wide variety of areas to local organizations and companies. CCTC serves both private and public employers, providing cost-effective solutions in today’s complex business environment.

Courses are designed to serve as essential tools to increase the existing workforce’s production and knowledge, according to Mick Pigott, director of Business and Industry Services.

“The CCTC is an extension of the college’s mission to bring affordable training and educational programs to the community and area employers,” Pigott said. “We provide custom courses for organizations to serve specific educational needs that may not be met by our traditional catalog offerings.”

Those requirements could include custom content and curricula, which would be designed and delivered by faculty and staff who specialize in the college’s broad range of programs and academic disciplines, or to hold the courses on site for convenience and to enhance productivity. “The courses offered cover management and staff skills, computer skills, manufacturing, allied health, law enforcement and more,” Pigott said. “Whatever our customer’s needs, CCTC works directly with them to tailor the training so that it is most effective.”

Steve Bender, executive director of the New England Health Care Employees Union, district 1199, recently contracted with CCTC for a food handling course. “We needed training in ServSafe for members of our union who work in area nursing homes, and so we contracted with MCC for a customized course,” he said. “The process was extremely flexible. The course matched the schedule of our members and the college set everything up.”

The CCTC has also effectively served the needs of regional manufacturing companies, including Glastonbury-based HABCO Industries, LLC; Windsor-based Belcan Corp.; Farmington-based Turbine Technologies; Tolland-based CNC Software, Inc. (MasterCAM); and Manchester-based companies AdChem Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. (ACMT); Spartan Aerospace LLC; Highland Manufacturing, Inc.; Timken Aerospace Drive Systems; Empire Industries, Inc.; and E.A. Patten Co.

Other examples of recent CCTC training include blueprint reading for a manufacturer, a 135-hour Medical Office Assistant program for a non-profit organization, a Personal Care Attendant program for another organization and team building for a state agency.
