MCC Hospitality and Culinary Arts Program Ranked Fourth on East Coast
MANCHESTER, Conn. (August 31, 2016) – Manchester Community College’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts Program has been ranked #4 on the East Coast colleges by Best Choice Schools.
The Best Choice Schools website – a popular online resource for obtaining the latest information relevant to making the right choice on selecting a college and academic degree program that meets students’ specific educational needs – created its Top 20 East Coast list based on programs from Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. To be considered, a program had to offer hands-on training, a variety of educational options and internship or co-op opportunities.
The site maintains an extensive research database on schools nationwide, and colleges making the list had a solid reputation based on this research.
“We are very pleased not only to make the Top 20, but also to rank right up there in the company of Johnson and Wales, and schools in the New York City market,” said Chris Paulin, MCC’s interim division director for social science, business and professional careers. “MCC graduates have gone on to own bakeries; serve as chefs and managers in both formal and informal restaurants; work in foodservice settings in health care, business and industry; join the staffs of hotels of all sizes and hold management positions in many areas of the hospitality field.”
MCC’s program also ranked #34 nationwide.
Paulin added, “Congratulations to the faculty, staff, students and alumni who contribute to the high quality of our Hospitality and Culinary Arts Program.”
MCC offers students a choice of degree and certificate programs in the areas of culinary arts, foodservice and hotel-tourism.
Both the Culinary Arts and Foodservice Management associate in science degree programs have been granted exemplary status by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF). This distinction is a guarantee to students that their program has met or exceeded the standards set by the ACF Accrediting Commission and the foodservice industry. Graduates from this program may apply to the American Culinary Federation (ACF) to become a Certified Cook, a nationally recognized certification.
