24th Annual Evening of Fine Wines Raises More than $200,000 for MCC Programs and Scholarships

Manchester, Conn. (June 10, 2016) – The 2016 Evening of Fine Wines raised more than $200,000, benefiting academic programs and students who need financial assistance to help complete their educations.

For 24 years, MCC Foundation’s Evening of Fine Wines has been a unique fundraiser involving participation from college faculty, staff, students, alumni and members of the community. Guests can bid on silent and live auctions featuring wines, champagnes, once-in-a-lifetime trips, weekend getaways, original works of art, golf, restaurant gift cards and more.

The event raises funds that enable Manchester Community College students to pursue their educational goals by supporting scholarships, programs and student life. Less than half of the college’s budget is supported through public funding, making support from MCC Foundation donors crucial.

This year United Bank Foundation Connecticut served as presenting sponsor of the event — participating not only with financial support, but also two United Bank executives — Adam Jeamel, Eastern Connecticut regional president; and Eric Newell, chief financial officer — served as honorary chairman and co-chairman respectively.

“It was an honor for us to sponsor this special annual event, and we are proud to have played a role in raising $200,000 for this first-class education destination,” Jeamel said. “We look forward to continuing our partnership with MCC Foundation when United Bank Foundation Connecticut goes forward as sponsors of the 25th annual Evening of Fine Wines. We are very pleased to be a part of helping MCC students dream big and achieve their goals.”

Plans are now underway for the 25th annual event, which will truly be a night to remember when it happens on Friday, April 28, 2017.
