Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a behavioral health science (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Counseling etc.) with a CT Addiction Credential (either a CAC/CADC or LADC) is required.

An understanding of the mission of the comprehensive community college and a demonstrated need to respond to and work with multiple constituencies and involvement in support of a culturally and ethnically diverse population are required.


Responsibilities

The Social Science Division is currently seeking a part-time lecturer to teach Addiction Counseling classes as part of the Drug & Alcohol Recovery Counselor –DARC-, A.S. degree. Classes meet for three hours each week; the instructor must also be available for one hour each week to meet with students.

There is an immediate need for fall 2016 for an instructor available Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:50 pm, but all qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

The applicant will be teaching Addiction Counseling I and this course provides an overview of the major historical counseling theories such as Psychoanalytic, Adlerian, Person Centered and Gestalt as well as more current and evidenced-based theories such as CBT, MET, Solution Focused and Brief therapies as they pertain to addiction counseling. This course will also examine various recovery theories/methods such as 12 step and medication assisted therapies.

There will also be an opening in the spring 2017 semester for Addiction Counseling II on the same day and time.


Minimum Salary/Compensation

$1,546 – $1,663 per semester contact hour
