Advanced Manufacturing Student Recruitment Event Scheduled for March 31 at Maggie McFly’s in Manchester
Manchester, Conn. (March 24, 2016) – People interested in a manufacturing career are encouraged to attend a special high-energy student-recruitment event Thursday, March 31, from 8 to 9 p.m. at Maggie McFly’s restaurant at 194 Buckland Hills, Manchester. The event – one of several recruiting events around the state for the Connecticut community colleges Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centers’ degree and certificate programs – is funded by the $15 million federal grant for the Connecticut Advanced Manufacturing Initiative (CAMI) first announced in 2014. It is part of a campaign to promote offerings through manufacturing programs at eight campuses around Connecticut.
Attendees at the Manchester-based event will meet ESPN sports anchor Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman, who will be on-hand to sign autographs and promote advanced manufacturing, and community colleges in general. There will be giveaways, and a drawing for a 3-D printer.
Representatives from Connecticut State Colleges and Universities (CSCU) leadership as well as manufacturing staff will join MCC manufacturing faculty, staff and students to meet prospective students and further explain the benefits of the program.
For information about the events and programs state-wide, go to the CSCU website. For more information about MCC’s courses, contact Catherine Seaver at 860-512-2622 or Ed Dombroski at 860-512-2814.
