Become a Nationally-Certified Pharmacy Technician at MCC
Manchester Community College offers prospective students an opportunity to become a Pharmacy Technician through a 10-week certification program. The next course will be held Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. September 15 through November 24. This course will prepare students to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Exam for national certification. Obtaining the national certification allows pharmacy technicians to increase their hire ability, prepares students with a higher level of skills, and allows entry-level technicians to boost their hourly wage by as much as $5.
Instructor Diane Pacitti, Ph.D., explains, “A nationally-certified technician is an asset to a pharmacy setting because it legally allows a third technician to be on a shift with a pharmacist, when normally that ratio is two technicians to one pharmacist. Technicians at this level understand when an intervention is needed from a pharmacist.”
