MCC Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Earns Five Star Recognition
The Manchester Community College local Phi Theta Kappa chapter has been named a “Five Star Chapter” by the National Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
The MCC-based Alpha Upsilon Alpha chapter received special commendation during the New England Regional convention.
The MCC chapter promotes scholarships, develops leadership and service, and cultivates fellowship among qualified students at the college. The chapter was also recognized at the society’s recent Annual Convention and is recognized on its website.
The Five Star Chapter Development Plan serves as a blueprint for developing a strong chapter, improves student engagement on a local campus, and recognizes progress in the attainment of goals set by the chapter. Using the Five Star Plan as a guide, Phi Theta Kappa chapters enhance their strategies to recognize eligible students, provide significant personal and professional development opportunities for members through Honors in Action and build a working relationship with the college administration by becoming active on campus and in the community. As chapters reach these milestones, they progress through each level of the Five Star Plan, ultimately reaching the Five Star pinnacle.
“We are very pleased to achieve this distinction within the Phi Theta Kappa community,” said MCC Professor Patrick Sullivan, one of the academic advisors to the campus chapter. “This is great news for the chapter and the college. It’s very difficult to achieve Five Star recognition. I am very proud of our officers and our members. This was an amazing group of student leaders, and it was an honor to have had the opportunity to work with them this year.”
