MCC “Super Saturday” Offers Expanded Enrollment Services, Aug. 9 and 16

Just because it’s August doesn’t mean it’s too late to apply to a college, get accepted and receive financial aid. At Manchester Community College, there are still openings for first-year students available for the 2014-15 academic year.

On Saturday, August 9 – Super Saturday – MCC’s Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Bursar, and Advising and Counseling Center offices will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be walk-in advising available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along with walk-in assessment testing until 11:30 a.m. Students who arrive early will be able to apply, test and register for courses all in a single day. A deposit on the college’s payment plan, or approved financial aid, will be required at the time of registration.

A second Super Saturday event will take place August 16, also from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with the same services available.

“Increasingly, first-time students are struggling to plan and pay for college. At Manchester Community College, we want to make the process as easy, convenient and accessible as possible,” according to G. Duncan Harris, dean of Student Affairs. “Besides the upcoming Super Saturdays, the Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and Bursar’s offices are open until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, so that future students and those already admitted can complete the business of enrolling in college and focus, instead, on their educational goals and future.”

Student who haven’t already done so are encouraged to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, aka, the FAFSA. Federal assistance includes need-based programs such as Federal Pell Grants. Students may also be eligible for work-study programs. The FAFSA can be submitted online at www.fafsa.gov; MCC’s school code is 001392.

Accepted students who have not yet taken the college’s required assessment tests can do so every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. Pre-registration is required, and students must bring their Banner Student Identification Number and a Photo ID to the test. More information on assessment tests can be found on the college’s website.
