MCC Was the Venue for Governor’s Announcement of “Go Back to Get Ahead”
MCC was honored to host Governor Dannel P. Malloy and the Board of Regents to kick-off the “Go Back to Get Ahead” program Monday, June 2, in the GPA Community Commons.
In a drive to give “lapsed” college students the opportunity to get their education back on track, and to develop a better educated workforce and more competitive state economy, the governor announced that the Board of Regents for Higher Education today launched the program to offer in-state residents who have started, but not completed a degree, free college courses when they re-enroll.
Malloy explained that through the program, for a limited time, individuals who took college courses before Dec. 1, 2012, but left before completing their degree, can get up to three free 3-credit courses, by enrolling in one of Connecticut’s 18 community colleges or universities. MCC President Glickman welcomed attendees and introduced the governor.
MCC alumna Julie Larkin, a candidate for the program, related her personal story to the crowd.
