The Grapevine
A SCHOOL COUNSELOR NEWSLETTER
HAPPY SPRING!
REMINDER TO SENIORS:
Please report your college acceptances to your counselor and/or Mrs. Spencer in the Guidance Center so we can be sure to list you in the Grapevine!
Also, if you receive an outside scholarship, please let your counselor and/or Mrs. Spencer know.
Once you have chosen the school you will attend and have made your deposit, please let your counselor know so that a final transcript can be uploaded on Common App or sent via mail to the school after you graduate. IMPORTANT REMINDER: -After you make a commitment to attend the college of your choice, remember to write or call the other colleges you were accepted to and let them know of your decision. This is the courteous thing to do and more important, you will be freeing places for others who were placed on waiting lists.
Waiting Lists: On the subject of waiting lists…those of you who received such a letter have a special problem. If you are not that excited about the school, let it go. If, on the other hand, it is your first choice there are a few things you can do:
1. Accept your second choice
2. Write and request that you be kept on the waiting list
3. Ask your counselor to send updated material to support your application
4. Call the college and ask what chance there is for financial aid for wait- listed candidates
Summer school will be offered at Hartford High School. Please see your counselor for registration.
