Credit-Free Programs to Offer Courses for Businesses at Main Street Location this Fall
August 23, 2013 – Local businesses and entrepreneurs will be interested in the Fall 2013 selection of courses offered by Manchester Community College at the centrally located downtown “MCC on Main.” Courses are tailored to business owners and managers and are scheduled to accommodate their busy schedules.
MCC Credit-Free Programs is launching a Business and Entrepreneurship book discussion group led by Jack Antonich, president of the Sales Leverage Group. Antonich, a seasoned businessman, employs a multidisciplinary approach to implementing processes aimed at improving business results. The group meets on four successive Fridays beginning October 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Refer to CRN 31923 to register.) The course fee is $60.
Books discussed will include Business Brilliant: Surprising Lessons from the Greatest Self-Made Business Icons, by Lewis Schiff; Who Owns the Ice House?: Eight Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur, by Clifton Taulbert and Gary Schoeniger; Built to Sell: Creating a Business that Can Thrive Without You, by John Warrillow; and Likeable Business: Why Today’s Consumers Demand More and How Leaders Can Deliver, by Dave Kerpen.
Antonich chose the books for their thought-provoking and inspiring content for developing strategy and tactics in today’s competitive markets.
“The books will serve as our point of departure for lively discussion among peers,” he said. “We’ll discuss concepts and exchange ideas about what works, and what doesn’t work, in today’s fast-paced world of commerce.”
A related course offering at MCC on Main this fall is “Start and Grow Your Own Business: A Step-by-Step Approach,” which Antonich will teach on successive Thursdays from September 19 to December 12 from 9 a.m. to noon (does not meet October 10 or November 21; refer to CRN 31922 to register). The course fee is $495 (includes text book).
In addition, MCC Credit-Free Programs Computer Technology “Morning Primers” — a series of short workshops focused on Microsoft Office skills – are designed to build the office skills that are important in today’s workplace and critical for small businesses.
Built for the entrepreneur’s busy schedule, these workshops enable students to brush up on each of the core Microsoft products by devoting just two hours a day for one week. Workshops run weekday mornings from 8 to 10 a.m., starting Monday, September 9 through Friday, September 13. Topics covered are Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. The fee for each session is $25. The “Morning Primers” courses will be offered two additional times during the semester – the week of October 7, and the week of November 18.
