MCC Credit-Free Programs Updates Catalog Format for Fall 2013 Based on Student Feedback
July 26 –Manchester Community College Credit-Free Programs has updated the format of its new Fall 2013 catalog based on input from students following the release of a new format last spring — making it even easier for students to pursue their lifelong-learning goals.
The new format — with clearer class dates, times and locations — makes it even easier for students to register for classes and find the rooms when they get to campus or off-campus facilities where some classes are held. The updates can be seen in the Fall 2013 catalog, which is now available online at credit-free or via Facebook (search Manchester Community College Credit-Free Programs). It will soon be distributed to the homes of everyone who has been a Credit-Free Programs student in the recent past. It will also be distributed through local newspaper drops at subscribers’ homes and is available at many retail stores, restaurants and libraries throughout MCC’s 15-town primary service area. In addition, copies will be available at The Shoppes at Buckland Hills, at the MCC Continuing Education kiosk on the lower level near Sears.
The catalog offers more than 300 in-depth courses taught by instructors who bring hands-on expertise as well as academic knowledge to their classrooms, and more than 70 of those courses are new offerings, including courses offered online.
Every Fall, thousands of adults opt to further their knowledge and expertise through Credit-Free Programs. Last Fall, more than 1300 students enrolled. Courses are typically designed to be shorter in length than a full college semester, and they start periodically throughout the term, so it is never too late to register.
Student evaluations and feedback help keep the course topics fresh and up-to-date, and it was also that feedback that led to the updates in the course description details. Students will more easily find what they are interested in: Body, Mind & Spirit topics, Computer Technology, Dance, Drama, Fitness and Recreation, Gardening, Languages, Music, Photography, and more.
The range of MCC Credit-Free Programs also includes computer skills training classes that prepare participants to pursue professional certification in MS Office, Web Communication & Design, CompTIA A+, AutoCAD 2013 and, beginning this Fall, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). There are also certification courses in the Allied Health fields; Real Estate Principles and Practices; and many others.
