Celebrate the Season at Manchester Community College on Saturday, October 27!

Manchester, CT – (October 16 2012)…On Saturday, October 27, the MCC campus will be host to a variety of community events. Foodshare’s Empty Bowls event takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the MCC Culinary Arts Center on the second floor of the Lowe Student Services Center. Admission is $15.00 per person and includes a handmade pottery bowl and a meal of soups, breads, desserts and beverages. The food is prepared and donated by MCC culinary arts students and area restaurants, and the bowls, which symbolize the empty bowls of the hungry, are crafted and donated by MCC art students, area students from Great Path Academy, Howell Cheney Technical High School, The Loomis Chafee School, Manhcester High School, Odyssey Community School, South Windsor High School and Windham Technical High School, and local potters. All proceeds raised at the event will benefit Foodshare, the regional food bank for Hartford and Tolland counties, and support its mission of combating hunger for an estimated 128,000 people, including 50,000 children, in the greater Hartford community.

The day also features the Manchester Art Association’s Craft Fair, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Great Path Academy Gymnasium. The fair will showcase handmade crafts, including clothing, furniture and jewelry. Admission to the fair is free.

A public flu clinic will also be held from 11 am to 1 pm in the lobby of the Lowe Student Services Center Insurances accepted at the flu clinic are Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, ConnectiCare and Medicare Part B; for other insurances, the charge is $39.00 payable in cash or by check.
