MCC Team Will Attend AACU Summer Institute

Manchester Community College Selected to Attend the Association of American Colleges and Universities Summer Institute

Manchester, Connecticut-(May 21, 2012)…A team from Manchester Community College has been selected by the Association of American Colleges and Universities to participate in the “Institute on Integrative Learning and the Departments” at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont in July.

The ”Institute on Integrative Learning and the Departments” is for teams of faculty, department chairs, and other administrative leaders to advance integrated learning in and across disciplines. The institute will help Manchester Community College and twenty-nine other colleges integrate major programs with general education and to assess broad student learning outcomes within individual departments.

The team from Manchester Community College hopes “to learn strategies that will advance interactive and inquiry based learning across disciplines and to develop faculty professional development opportunities to implement these strategies in the Fall 2012 semester,” according to Dr. Joanne Russell, Dean of Academic Affairs at Manchester Community College. Members of the team are: Dr. Len Dupille, Professor, Psychology; Kaarina Finegan, Associate Professor, English; Dr. James Gentile, Professor, English; Dr. Stacy Giguere, Professor, Psychology; Dr. Chris Paulin, Director, Social Science and Hospitality Division; Wanda Reyes-Dawes, Counselor, Bonnie Riedinger, Interim Director of Learning and Technology; and Dr. Russell.
