Sullivan County CC Sweeps DH from MCC
MANCHESTER – Sullivan County CC (2-0) scored 10 times in the top of the seventh to take game one 11-8, then completed the sweep over Manchester CC (1-5) with an 8-2 victory in the nightcap Sunday at Cheney Tech.
“We played almost 3 games of very good baseball,” MCC head coach Chris Strahowski said. “We are still mixing and matching a little bit with the lineups to put the best offensive team out there.”
Josue Delgado capped Sullivan County’s game-one comeback with a three-run triple with his team trailing 8-7 after two were out in the seventh. MCC’s Alec Brown (Montville) had three hits and three RBI on the afternoon. The two seven-inning games took nearly six hours to complete, with 31 walks issued by 14 different pitchers on both teams.
We are still in an adjustment phase, and I feel that we will get better with time,” Strahowski added.”With the out of conference schedule as tough as it is, there is really no time for a let down of any type. The guys are getting a taste of what it will be like in April when we hit the conference schedule.”
In game two, Sullivan scored runs in each of the first five innings and held an 8-1 lead before Chris Rivera’s (New Britain) RBI triple drove in Joe Vecca (Bristol) with one out in the sixth.
