Holyoke, MA – Holyoke CC (4-1) scored once in the first half and twice in the second in a 3-1 victory over Manchester CC (1-3-1) in Region 21, Division III action Wednesday afternoon.
“We were going in different directions today,” MCC head coach Jeremy Wilson said of his team. “They played a better team game than we did. That’s pretty much it.” Wilson picked up his first win at the collegiate level on Monday in a 1-0 victory over Springfield Tech at home.
Angie Kelly, Amanda Grant and Sarah Miller scored for Holyoke. Caitie Sutherland (Somers) scored for with MCC trailing 3-0 in the 80th minute to break the shutout. Ilyssa Riley (Enfield) assisted. Amanda Canty was called on to make just one save for Holyoke while Michelle Kerr (Rockville) made three saves for Manchester.
MCC has now lost five straight games to Holyoke dating back to the Region 21, Division III championship game on October 26, 2008. The Cougars have eight days to regroup before Division I power CC of Rhode Island visits on September 23rd for a 4PM game.
