Manchester CC Names Jeremy Wilson Women’s Soccer Coach

Jeremy Wilson is a builder of soccer programs.

The 31-year old Eastern Connecticut State University graduate (2002) brings those skills to Manchester Community College after being named head coach of the school’s women’s team on April 5th, 2010.

Wilson replaces Alex Calpa, who brought the team from club status to a Region 21 contender over his five year run, compiling an overall record of 34-25-2, including a program best 16-3 record in 2008 when they made their first-ever appearance in the Region XXI Division III Championship game.

Wilson rebuilt girls programs at Parish Hill High School in Chaplin, CT (2001), Putnam High school (2002-04) and St Bernard’s High School in Uncasville, CT. In 2005, St. Bernard’s went 16-3-1 and played in the Connecticut Inter-Scholastic Athletic Conference Class S Championship game in Wilson’s only season at the school.

Wilson is the Associate Director and a co-founder of Foundation Soccer Club and head coach of four of its boys teams — U9, U16 and a pair of U14 teams. He has also coached under Portugal National Team Goalkeeper coach Dan Gaspar and has been the Director/Manager at the Star Goalkeeping Academy and CT Soccer School for the past six years. He was also a goalkeeping coach for the SoccerPlus CT Reds in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) in 2009.

At the college level, Wilson was the goalkeeper coach at the University of Hartford for three seasons, including 2006 when he was part of the American East Conference Coaching Staff-of-the-Year. That fall, the Hawks went 10-9-2 (6-0-2 in AEC play) while Wilson’s goalkeeper, Liz Cook, won the AEC Goalkeeper-of-the-Year award with a 1.03 GAA.

The 1997 Middletown High grad is a staff member at the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association Olympic Development Program and was goalkeeper coach and staff intern with the Western Massachusetts Pioneers of the United Soccer League from 2000-03.

Wilson lives in Middletown with his wife Chalice (formerly Parker) Wilson and three sons; Noah (10), Oren (4) and Jaxon (1).
