New Video Production Courses Offered at MCC
Manchester, Conn., (February 23, 2010)…. Want to become the next Steven Spielberg? Manchester Community College’s continuing education department will offer a series of new courses for individuals interested in pursuing a career in video production. The first video production course will begin on March 15. Skilled professionals from Synthetic Cinema International, LLC (SCI) will run the courses.
“The instructors are members of the crew of Synthetic Cinema International and they bring their real-world experience to the classroom,” said Janet Alampi, director of Business and Industry Services. “Students will receive practical experience and insight to production that can help to place them in quality internships at local news stations and production houses,” stated Andrew Gernhard, of Synthetic Cinema International. “Past interns from SCI have gone to work for high profile companies such as ESPN, MTV, and independent and major studios.”
Five courses will be offered as part of the video production cluster, including: Intro to Video Camera and Techniques (VP1); Intro to Final Cut Pro Editing (VP2); Project Creation (VP3); After Effects Introduction (AE1); and Screen Writing Introduction (SW1).
All courses will be held at MCC, and students will use industry standard software and equipment for shooting their own projects. Registration fees may vary depending on the course. Course fees range from $225 to $295.
Synthetic Cinema International, LLC is the only operating motion picture studio and distributor in Connecticut. Since 2004, the studio has produced and delivered a new breed of affordable feature films. With eight features currently in post-production, SCI has contracts with companies including Lionsgate, Vivendi (Universal Studios Home Video), Maverick Entertainment, Maxim Media International, Maple Pictures (Lionsgate Canada,) Chiller Network (NBC/Universal) and, most recently, MVD Entertainment Group.
