Harley Thomas (Enfield) scored with eight minutes left to break a 3-3 tie as Manchester CC (4-6) beat Springfield Tech 4-3 in Manchester Thursday afternoon. Miranda Hodge (Rocky Hill) scored her third goal in as many games and assisted on a Lizzy Coll (Rockville) goal that gave MCC a 3-1 lead seven minutes into the second half.
Ilyssa Riley (Enfield) scored her team high sixth goal. Michelle Kerr (Rockville) was outstanding in goal, making 19 saves during a steady cold rain. Springfield Tech drops to 6-6-1.
STCC, who took a 1-0 lead and dominated much of the first half, rallied from a 3-1 second half deficit and tied the game with a goal in the 70th minute and a penalty kick six minutes later.
Thomas, who had been a force in the defensive backfield for the Cougars throughout the game, broke through a seam in Springfield’s backfield and scored easily in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper for the game winner.
