MCC Women Win Region XXI Opener

Holyoke, MA – The MCC Women will be playing for their first ever Division III Region XXI Championship after beat Springfield Tech 4-1 Saturday in Holyoke.

MCC (16-2) will face off against host Holyoke CC in for the tournament championship. The Cougars of Holyoke eliminated Massasoit CC Saturday afternoon by a 2-1 margin.

The Cougars took a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game when Heather Kowalski scored on on a pass from Ashley Boudle. 15 minutes later, Boudle made it 2-0 on the first of two Lindsay Estok’ s assists. Shelly Muratori scored off a Brittany Finger corner kick five minutes into the second half.

Monique Lussier cut the MCC lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 60th minute, but Christine Amat scored eight minutes later to make it 4-1.

Nicole Morehouse made six saves for MCC while Laura Taupier made eight saves for STCC.
