Late Goal Spoils MCC Men’s 2008 Debut

Fall River, MA (Aug 30) -Bristol Community College broke a 3-3 tie in the 80th minute and beat the MCC Men’s soccer team 4-3 Saturday afternoon in the 2008 debut for both teams in Fall River, MA.

Jemmy Cange (Norwich) scored a pair of goals for the Cougars and Joe Danso (West Haven) scored one. Jason Walker (Windsor) and goalkeeper Hami Kari (Wethersfield) added assists. Kari made four saves while his counterpart, Jason Miranda, made eight.

Jason Touto scored three goals, including the game winner, for Bristol, which was playing its first varsity game after posting a 10-2 record as a club program in 2007.

“We made some defensive errors in the backfield and paid for,” Jim Insinga said after kicking off his ninth season as the MCC with the disappointing loss. “We can’t make excuses. When your goalkeeper is one-on-one with a striker, its bad news.”

Insinga will regroup his team for its second of three consecutive road games and four consecutive Region XXI contests on Wednesday, when it travels to Holyoke CC for a 4 pm game.
