MCC Graduate Awarded Prestigious Grant
Manchester, Conn., – (August 15, 2008)… Recent Manchester Community College graduate, J. Ashley Odell of Manchester, has been awarded the prestigious Finch College Alumnae Association Foundation Grant. This competitive financial award is presented to a successful community college student entering a four-year college. Odell graduated from MCC in May 2008 and will enter Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts this fall.
Odell was a student representative for the Connecticut Community Colleges’ Board of Trustees and, most recently, received national recognition from Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, and was awarded three prestigious scholarships for her outstanding academic and civic achievements. “My college experience, including both academics and co-curricular involvement, has helped me to not only reclaim a life of meaning and fulfillment, but also establish new goals and dreams for my future,” stated Odell.
Finch College was formerly a four-year liberal arts women’s college located in New York City. The Finch College Alumnae Association Foundation makes it possible for today’s women to continue college and begin preparing for professional careers. Funds for these programs are raised through generous donations by alumnae, annual dues and fundraising events held throughout the year.
