Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Awards MCC $50,000 for Scholarships
Manchester, Conn. – (May 2, 2008) … The Manchester Community College Foundation was recently awarded a $50,000 block grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The grant will provide scholarships to MCC students that have demonstrated financial need, and are matriculated in a degree or certificate program and are either traditional age or adult learners. The scholarships will be awarded to students that reside in the foundation’s 29-town area within the greater Hartford region.
Since 2003, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has awarded more than $150,000 in scholarship assistance to students at MCC. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for the 29-town Greater Hartford region, dedicated to improving the quality of life for area residents. The Foundation receives gifts from thousands of generous individuals and families and, last year, awarded grants of more than $24 million to a broad range of nonprofit organizations.
The Manchester Community College Foundation is a private, nonprofit, 501(c) 3 Connecticut corporation. It is governed by a volunteer board of directors, composed of business and community leaders. Its board meets bi-monthly and lends its considerable expertise to the operations of the Foundation and the College’s development program.
