Errors Costly to MCC in 4-0 Loss at CCRI

WARWICK, RI – (April 15, 2008) CCRI took advantage of three errors and beat MCC 4-0 Tuesday afternoon in Warwick, RI.

CCRI (16-9) scored their first of three unearned runs in the first inning and lefty Dan Nelson (Glastonbury) kept the Cougars within one run through 6 ½ innings. CCRI took advantage of two MCC (15-4-1)errors in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three times to break open the 1-0 game. Nelson struck out five and walked three.

The two teams split the season series as Manchester took an 8-2 game from the Division II team on April 9 at McCormick Complex on the MCC campus.

Liam Ohlmann (Wallingford/Choate) pitched the eighth inning and struck out the side.

Kevin Clements (Vernon) had two of Manchester’s five singles and Derek Grundmann (Colchester) singled and stole a base.

MCC continues its string of nine games in seven days with a pair of home games on Wednesday, April 16 against Division II Westchester (NY) CC starting at 3 pm.
