Winning Streak Over: Cougars Lose to Region XXI Rival Holyoke
Holyoke, MA – (April 11, 2008) The MCC baseball team kicked away its five game winning streak, making six errors in a 9-3 loss to Region XXI rival Holyoke Friday afternoon in Holyoke. MCC is now 11-3-1 but falls to 2-2 in Region XXI play.
Brian Hager (Burlington) had a pair of hits, including a double and Dan Angelillo (Wethersfield) had MCC’s lone RBI with a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Rob Bukowski (Windsor Locks) also had two hits.
Manchester starter Liam Ohlmann (Wallingford/Choate) suffered his first loss of the season, but was victimized by the errors and allowed just one earned run. Ohlmann (3-1) struck out eight and walked three over six long innings. Kevin Garrison (Berlin) gave up one run in three relief innings.
MCC plays host to a pair of Region XXI double headers over the weekend, weather permitting. On Saturday Roxbury CC travels to McCormick Complex for two games and on Sunday Bunker Hill, comes in for two more. Both double headers are scheduled to start at noon.
