MCC Bats Pound Out 17 Hits; Beat Eastern JV 15-2
MANCHESTER – (April 3, 2008) MCC exploded for six runs in the third inning and eight more in the eighth in a 15-2 victory over Eastern Connecticut’s JV at McCormick Complex Thursday afternoon.
Kevin Clements (Vernon) continued to swing a hot bat with four hits in six at-bats including a double in the fourth inning and an RbI single in the third. Clements’ afternoon work brought his season average up to .336 (14 for 22) on the season.
Trevor Mathiason (Stafford) was 3 for 5 including a two-run double in the third and a two-run single in the eighth and scored a pair of runs. Peter Burgio (Bolton) was 3 for 4 with a double, a walk , three runs scored and an RBI. All MCC starters scored at least one run. Alan Fredriksson (Torrington), Bryan Hager (Burlington) and Pedro Acevedo (New Britain) each had a pair of hits
Rob Brown (Rochester, NY) picked up his second win in as many starts, allowing just one earned run on two hits over five innings with six strikeouts. Kevin Garrison (Berlin) pitched the final four innings, retiring the first eleven hitters he faced. Garrison gave up one unearned run in the ninth inning on two hits and struck out one batter but did not walk any.
