New Staff Joins Manchester Community College
Manchester, CT – (August 31, 2007) . . . Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following additions to its staff:
Dr. Pauline Lizotte, of Orlando, FL and Sharale Walker Golding, of West Hartford are new instructors of biological sciences in the college’s Mathematics, Science and Health Careers division.
In their roles, Lizotte and Golding will be responsible for lectures and laboratories in courses such as Principles of Biological Science, General Biology, Human Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology. In addition, they will develop, implement, revise and evaluate curricula in light of the National Science Education Standards with a goal of implementing technology into the teaching and learning of the course materials.
Lizotte has over 30 years’ experience teaching biological sciences and was professor of biology at Valencia Community College in Orlando. She also taught biology at Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, AZ and was an assistant professor of biology at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville MO.
Lizotte is a graduate of the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. and master of science degree in botany and holds a bachelor of science degree in biology education from Central Connecticut State University. She is a member of the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA).
Golding was formerly an adjunct biology faculty member at MCC and also worked as the project coordinator for the Science and Technology Reaching Out to New Generations in Connecticut (STRONG-CT) program at Manchester Community College.
She holds a master of science degree from Quinnipiac University and a bachelor of science degree from Eastern Connecticut State University.
Milaim Tahiri, of Hartford, joined MCC as an instructor of developmental mathematics in the college’s Mathematics, Science and Health Careers division. Tahiri was formerly an adjunct faculty member in mathematics at Central Connecticut State University and Capital Community College.
As an instructor of developmental mathematics, Tahiri will be responsible for teaching developmental mathematics courses, as well as providing leadership to staff and faculty on assessing outcomes of developmental courses and developing new methods for improving student success. In addition, he will advise students, revise and evaluate curricula, and participate on college committees.
Tahiri is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a master of arts degree in mathematics and holds a bachelor of science degree in engineering from Charter Oak State College.
Patricia Lindo, of Bloomfield, is the college’s new executive assistant to the president. In this role, Lindo will serve as a member of the senior management team and will be responsible for providing the president with administrative and managerial assistance, including serving as a liaison with staff, students, and the community, preparing correspondence, answering inquiries, as well as assisting with the coordination of events and other activities.
Lindo was formerly the administrative assistant to the dean of administration at Capital Community College and also worked for the Connecticut Department of Mental Retardation as an administrative assistant.
Lindo is a graduate of Manchester Community College with an associate degree in accounting and business administration and currently pursing a bachelor’s degree in general studies at Eastern Connecticut State University.
Evelyn Kissi, of Manchester, has been hired as an information technology technician II in the Information Technology department. Kissi will be responsible for providing technical assistance in installation, operation, adaptation, maintenance and repair of computerized equipment and software on a college-wide basis.
Prior to joining MCC, Kissi was a senior user systems analyst for St. Paul Travelers in Hartford and an executive technical analyst for Coca Cola Enterprises in Atlanta. Kissi holds a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems from DeVry Institute of Technology in Decatur, GA.
