New Staff Joins Manchester Community College

Manchester, CT – (September 20, 2006) . . . Manchester Community College is pleased to announce the following addition to its staff:

Ta’Shema Odoms, of Ithaca, NY, has joined MCC as a Counselor in the Center for Student Development.

In her new role, Odoms will be responsible for providing advice and professional counseling to students in order to contribute to their successful academic, career, personal, social and college experience. Additionally, she will support students as they clarify basic values and interests, formulate educational and vocational goals, and explore alternative strategies for goal achievement. Odoms will also assist in institutional efforts to assess students’ development needs and initiate programs designed to meet those needs.

Prior to joining MCC, Odoms was the Assistant Director of Admission at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. Previously, she worked as the Admission Counselor at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts and was an intern at Manchester Community College for the Office of Admissions, Academic Advising and the Center for Student Development and Minority Student Programs.

Odoms is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a master of science degree in Counseling-Student Development in Higher Education and holds a bachelor of arts degree in Sociology and a minor in Psychology from Central Connecticut State University. She is a member of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling, the New England Counselors of Color Bridging Access to College and the National Association of College Admission Counselors.
