NJCAA Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament Set For Final Day With Three Games

MANCHESTER, Conn. (May 15) – There are three games scheduled for Tuesday – the final day – of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI Baseball Tournament at McCormick Field on the campus of Manchester Community College.

Host and fourth-seeded Manchester Community College (19-11, 1-0) will play third-seeded Massasoit Community College (24-20, 1-0) in a winners’ bracket game at 9 a.m. The loser of the MCC-Massasoit Community College game will play second-seeded Northern Essex Community College, a 4-2 winner over top-seeded Holyoke Community College in the losers’ bracket game on Monday, at 12:30 p.m. The winners of the 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. games will meet in a 4 p.m. game. If a team has two losses after the 4 p.m. game, the winning team is an undefeated champion. If neither team has two losses after the 4 p.m. game, the highest remaining seed is named the 2006 NJCAA Division III Region XXI baseball champion.

According to NJCAA rules, the region baseball champion must be determined by 11:59 p.m. Tuesday. If the tournament is unable to be completed, the highest remaining seed at that time is named the champion.

The NJCAA Division III Region XXI champion advances to the eight-team 2006 NJCAA Division III Baseball Championship May 20-26 in Glens Falls, N.Y.

In opening-round action on Saturday, Manchester Community College defeated Holyoke Community College 2-1 and Massasoit Community College beat Northern Essex Community College 7-1.
