MCC Respiratory Care Graduates Honored at Pinning Ceremony
MANCHESTER, Conn. (June 13, 2022) – Eleven graduates of Manchester Community College’s Respiratory Care program were honored at a pinning ceremony by the college’s clinical faculty, medical director, and graduates’ family and friends. A pinning ceremony honors their completion of all requirements for their degree and eligibility to take the national credentialing examinations offered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

In addition, the graduates were presented with stoles donated by Julius Sarfo ’14, a distinguished alumnus of the program now employed by Yale New-Haven Hospital and on the clinical faculty at Naugatuck Valley Community College. Sarfo arranged for the stoles to be given to the graduates. The stoles are crafted in the kente style — using silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips – from his hometown of Ejura, Ghana.
Class of 2022 Respiratory Care graduates are Zamari Santiago Jurado, of New Haven; Rachel Sylvia, of Tolland; Nicole Booker, of Windsor; Stephanie Schick, of East Windsor; Mervin Faucher, of Colchester; Sophia Nketsiah Amonoo, of Manchester; Martina Smith, of Middletown; Kendra Allen, of New Britain; Charles Morgan, of Glastonbury; Lydia Verdolini, of Newington; and Kathy Maisonet, of Terryville.
MCC’s Respiratory Care program is a two-year associate degree program designed to meet the standards of the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care , which accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. The program offers students a combination of strong classroom preparation and rigorous clinical experience in a wide variety of healthcare settings.
