Gene Haas Foundation Donates Scholarship Funds for MCC Precision Manufacturing Students

MANCHESTER, Conn.  (October 13, 2021) –Manchester Community College has received $14,000 in grant funding for scholarships from the Gene Haas Foundation. This is the sixth year the Gene Haas Foundation has supported MCC manufacturing students with a grant.

The scholarships, managed by MCC Foundation, are based on merit and will be awarded to precision manufacturing students to cover tuition, books and supplies that students are required to provide, such as personal tooling.

The Precision Manufacturing certificate program equips students with the necessary hands-on experience and foundational knowledge to qualify for entry-level positions as machine operators and quality control inspectors. In this program, students are taught both conventional machining techniques and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining techniques. Students who complete the program earn both a non-credit and a credit certificate and earn up to 30 credits that can be applied toward an associate degree in Technology Studies-Industrial Technology Option. The Gene Haas Foundation was formed in 1999 with the primary goal of building skills in the machining industry.  The foundation provides an opportunity for schools to apply for funds annually, providing scholarships for computer numerical control (CNC) machine technology students and National Institute for Metalworking Skills credentials.  The Gene Haas Foundation has contributed over $60 million since 2014 supporting education throughout the world.
