MCC Offers Free Certified Nurse Aid Job Training with Support of CARES Act Funding

MANCHESTER, Conn. (September 22, 2020) – Thanks to funding made available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Manchester Community College is offering a special accelerated, non-credit Certified Nurse Aid (CNA) course.

The six-week course is offered at no cost to students. It starts Monday, October 5 and runs through Wednesday, November 11. Books and other course-related expenses – including three sessions of lab at MCC and 16 hours of clinical work at Woodlake at Tolland, a 130-bed, skilled nursing home and short-term rehabilitation facility – are also covered by the CARES Act funding.

The course will prepare students with entry-level skills to serve as a CNA in long-term care facilities, hospitals, clinics and via home health agencies. To be eligible, students must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, and their employment must have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

All classes are held online except for the lab and clinical work, which will be conducted under strict COVID-19 protocols. Seats are limited. For more detail, email CEinfo@manchestercc.edu. To enroll, call 860-406-3374 and press 1.
